The Post in Which I Introduce Myself

I feel like I should start this with; "Hi, my name is Sireena and I'm addicted to books." But this blog has been a long time coming, You see the written world is my haven. It drew me in and I was sucked further and further into it's clutches. It all started back in elementary school when I could finally read the chapter books and not those lousy "See the cat. The cat sat. The cat sat on a mat." (You ALL know what I'm talking about.) It was fueled by the first book given to me by my second grade teacher (I can never thank you enough Mrs. Dunbar) It was "The Stinky Sneakers Mystery" by Beverly Lewis. That book was my treasure, I still have it to this day and in pristine condition despite it's repeated use. I began reading more, going to the public library more often, reading The Babysitters Club, The Boxcar Children, Nancy Drew. Oh! How I loved biographies! I had to read about Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin. History became my favorite subject, because the only way (at least for me) was to read it! I could see pictures and read peoples journals of them doing incredible feats! It was all at my finger tips, the whole world. Then my world took another spectacular turn, Harry Potter and Sorcerers Stone came out and I fell in love, it was read to me by my fifth grade teacher (Mrs. Stallsmith) it was a great book, but the way she read it! The images were alive in my mind and I learned I'm one of those people, I jump into the book and I am transported in my mind to another time, place, world. The words leap off the pages creating beautiful pictures in my mind that I treasure, I connect with the characters and fall in love, felt pain, saddness, triumph, defeat, joy.
I used books as a door to escape when I needed somewhere to go. I also learned something else, I can never read a good book just once, and more importantly I have to share them. I give books for just about all our wedding gifts, birthdays, baby showers, the Easter bunny brings books to our house and the tooth fairy brings one for my kids first lost tooth. (I really have a problem.) Which brings us back to the reason for this blog, I want to share.
I really enjoy historical fiction, and regency, (among many others, which I will review here as well) but can find it difficult to find good ones that have a love story in it without over doing it. I want clean books. I want ones that have history to them. Let's get real honest here, I just want it to be well written, So, each week I will be reviewing one book, twice, once as a general review (at the beginning of the week) and the second time will be in depth and most likely have spoiler alerts or more accurately spoilers and this is the places where I'd really like to hear your feedback to about the book! (kind of like an online book club, at the end of the week) And of course check back often for free books and giveaways! I plan on spotlighting an author every month and giving away one of their books, because I love them, I'm incredibly grateful for their work and I want to support them in anyway I can so that they will continue to write. If you are an author and would like me to spotlight or review your book feel free to contact me at sireenadoty@hotmail.com and if your a reader feel free to write a book suggestion in the comments here!
